SKill Post 3

If I had a chance to go to one of these three camps, 'Camp Big Apple', 'Ranch West Camp', and 'Head Start Splash' I would prefer to go to the Ranch West Camp. I had a point of view of the time participating in the camp, the country and place where the camp is located, the teachers who join, and subjects students will learn while participating.

Foremost, in Camp Big Apple, students stay 3 weeks in the camp. While Ranch West Camp has 4 weeks of participation, Start Splash Camp makes students stay in the camp for 5 weeks. I believe that 3 weeks is too short to master English as a second language, which was the goal of Camp Big Apple, and 5 weeks will make students too bored to that camp. On the other hand, at Ranch West Camp, students participate in the camp alone for a suitable 4 weeks. This will encourage independence from their family, and better English skills.

Second, I thought about the place the camp is located. The camp I preferred, which was Ranch West Camp, is located in an foreign country, Canada. Although Head Start Splash is also located in a foreign country, Philippine, Canada’s economic situation or citizens who live in the country’s language are more advanced. In order to master English as a second language, living in Canada for 4 weeks will be a suitable time. Additionally, the places students stay is also paramount. In Camp Big Apple, students stay in dormitories, but this might be too much of a burden to students among the camp. In contrast, Ranch West Camp allows students to live in a home stay situation, which will encourage a more special relation with foreigners. Therefore, Ranch West Camp provides the most delightful place to stay.

Third, I believe that teachers who come to the camp are also important. In Camp Big Apple, Korean professors teach students English. In the other hand, at Ranch West Camp, all classes are taught by recent graduates from the local university. Head Start Splash is taught by local teachers with Bachelor’s degrees and certificates. Being taught by local teachers with Bachelor’s degrees and certificates might be good, but I strongly believe that in order to adapt in the camp better, being taught by recent graduates from the local University will have more advantages. Recent Graduates from the local University have better memories of how this camp made students study and what the purpose is, so they will give a lot of help to the camping students.

Lastly, I would like to talk about what students will learn in the camps. Ranch West Camp will help students upgrade and advance what subject students want to participate in the camp. Studying something students do not want to learn is useless, so Ranch West Camp is the most delightful and helpful place for students to study. Additionally, students in Ranch West Camp can learn teamwork by horseback riding, river rafting, hiking, canoeing, and mountain biking with friends. It will be a good chance to learn cooperation.

Thus, I would prefer the Ranch West Camp by seeing the 4 weeks time period, the place, which is Canada, being taught by recent graduates from the local university, and learning what each student want to upgrade. It will be very enjoyable to stay in this camp by home staying and communicating with real foreigners.

1. Handout
Article : Bear Attacks

- Summarizing -

Hiking in the woods in the North America has possibility to meet a bear and get attacked, but it is actually improbable. Cases that people get attacked from bears are very unusual, because when we attack the beat, the bear gets more frigthened and runs away. In the Yellowstone National Park in the U.S. statistics, it shows that it is likely to get drown or have a car accident  than be attacked by a bear. However, there are some unusal cases that bears attack people. but there are wise solutions to prevent it. First, traveling in groups is one way to reduce the chances. Bears usually don't attack people more than four. Second, stay calm when you meet a bear, because they attack when it seems the person running. It will be very hard to meet a bear and be attacked, but if you do, use these solutions and don/'t be so afraid!

- Paraphrasing (4th pragraph)

According to the Yellowstone National Park in the United States, researches show that people are more likely to be dead because of drowning, not attacked from a bear. Between 1839 to 1994, 101 people died from drowning but only 5 people were attacked and killed from wild bears.

Fun Post 3

Today, I would like to investigate the food that the world eats. Specifically, I researched about the German people, and the Melander family of Bargteheide. From now on, I would like to lay out the information about the food expenditure for one week relating with their usual staple, establish some of their chief article of food and favorite food, and express how I would feel eating these food everyday.

Foremost, I have inquiried how much the Melander family of Bargteheide, send on eating food for one week. This family uses normally 375.39 Euros or $500.07. This amount of money is provided because German is one of the developed country, and can find desirable food easily. To see their staple food, it is usually made up with meat, cheese, bread, pudding, vegetables, and fruit. Liquids are usually made up with milk or water, sometimes beer. Their food has various kinds of it that helps the family to absorb protein, calcuim, vitamin, and nitrogen. Because they have to gain all of the wealty energy from the foods, German people have to send a certain amount of money on eating.

Secondly, I would like to lay out about the favorite foods of the Melander family.  They usually like to eat fried potatoes with onions, bacon and herring, fried noodles with eggs and cheese, pizza, vanilla pudding. These are all the foods that are easily gained in Germany, such as cheese or pudding. Additionally,  fruits and vegetable are counted as German people's chief article food. By seeing this family's staple food, I believe German people like foods that contain many carbohydrate and protein.

I think living as a German person will be a short cut gaining weight. This family eats all of the food that I desire to eat everyday, such as potato, meet, cheese, bread, fruits, pizzas, and pudding. Also, not only that, it will be a good chance for me to gain all of the vitamins, protein, carbohydrate, and nitrogen from everyday food. It made me hungry to elaborate all of the foods that I want to eat by only seeing in the picture.

If you want to know more about thier food, or mayble more about the other cultural people's food, visit the site
http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1626519,00.html . You will be able to look at 16 cultural people's diet and know about their staple food. Be careful! Don't be so hungry :)

Fun Post 2

There was a boy named Jerry Aultz, living in Austin, Texas. Jerry was unpopular to his friend because of his diry habit, picking his nose. One day, a boy named Young Jin, who hated Jerry and his booger, called him to the school playground during recess. When Jerry went out, Young Jin was ready to fight with other friends. Jerry planned to fight with Young Jin, so he approached to him very slowly and terrifying. Young Jin was kind of scared,  but he commanded to his friends to fight with Jerry. Jerry knocked down all of Young Jin's friends, and then beat Young Jin with his booger. Suddenly, Young Jin called out a magical word, "Abracadabra" and became a cat. To fight against, Jerry became a mouse but his action was very foolish. Everyone of the viewers had a sudden thought about the television program, "Tom and Jerry". Young Jin threatened Jerry by saying, "You're crazy enought to become a mouse. Ha! Now, it's the time for me to each you deliciously!" and ate him. Trying his all life to live, Jerry made a strong fire and spread all over to Young Jin's lung. That hurted Young Jin, so Young Jin moved his belly really hard to make Jerry dizzy. Because of all the fire Jerry had spread to Young Jin, the two of them died together. After their death, there were 2 stacks of grey ashes in the school playground. Then, a student stamped on the 2 stacks of the ahses, believing them to be alive again. First, the god did not allow the two of them being alive again, but he gave bestow to them to reborn at South Africa and Antartica each, becoming a fish. However, the two fish couldn't live long because they were eaten by human living in the same place. This misery spread to all of the country, and the students who were still left in the playground cheered altogether.
"Hip Hip! Hurray★!! :D"
